Books I’m Reading
Just thought I’d share what books I’m reading right now…
Bringing Up Girls by Dr. James Dobson
This is a great book for anyone raising a daughter, or daughters (3) if you’re like me, and I would highly recommend it. I’ve already learned so much from this book and have so much wisdom to apply to my approach as a father of daughters. I’ve marked up – highlighted – underlined and more so many things that will change who I am as a father. Get this book dads of daughters!
Killing Cockroaches by Tony Morgan
Pastor John gave this book to all of the JFC staff recently. It’s an easy read from the amazing blog that Tony Morgan (the Chief Strategic Officer of NewSpring Church in SC). He has some great insight into many subjects, but is especially challenging to my leadership focus – do’s and don’ts. If you’re a leader, read this book.
Necessary Endings by Dr. Henry Cloud
You may have heard Pastor John talk about this book recently. This book has such great insight into “endings” in life and how (just as the title says) some are so very “necessary.” This book is deep, but so refreshing when you can fully grasp the concepts it shares. If you’ve ever struggled with seasons, change, endings… read this book!
And of course, do I really even have to say this, I’m also reading the Bible. I’ve been spending a lot of time in the books of 1st and 2nd Peter, 1st 2nd and 3rd John and the book of Jude. There is some amazing stuff in those books that is really challenging me. Like the other books above, I highly suggest these books if you don’t know what to read in the Bible right now.
